About Lesson

The Passive Infinitive (to be + verb3) à (with verbs and adjectives like:

                (need, require, ask, appear, expect, difficult….)

  • There’s one drawback: it needs to be filled with coffee and water first.
  • The company expects their invention to be launched next year.
  • A difficult decision had to be made.
  • Issa is expecting to be given a pay rise.

 

The Passive gerund (being + verb3) à with verbs and phrases like:

              (fancy, enjoy, like, risk of, worried about, result in,  …..)

  • It’s a ‘must have’ if you are worried about being attacked.
  • Nobody likes being told about their bad habits, especially by a computer!
  • The crisis will result in more and more shops being closed
  • I’d appreciate the concept being explained once again.

 

  1. They expect him to complete the project by Friday.

     2. The document appears to contain important information.

(to be contained, being contained)

      3. It is difficult to understand the lesson with this noise.
