- Prepositions are (حروف الجر) à in, on, at, of, for, from, to, with, without, by, over, near, behind, …
- We have two kinds of prepositional relative pronouns:
First –> Informal / Less formal
- Preposition –> at the end of the relative clause.
- Relative Pronouns –> who, which, that
- Don’t drop relative pronoun.
- Examples:
That is the teacher I was talking to him
- That’s the teacher who/that I was talking to.
This is the book. She told me about it.
- This is the book which/that she told me about.
Second –> Formal
- Preposition à before the relative pronoun. تصبح الجملة رسمية فقط بنقل حرف الجر إلى قبل ضمير الوصل
- Relative Pronouns à whom, which. وهذا يتم فقط مع ضميري الوصل
- Don’t drop relative pronoun.
- Examples
That is the teacher I was talking to him
- That’s the teacher to whom I was talking.
This is the book. She told me about it.
- This is the book about which she told me.
